Social Media: What's the Big Deal?

In April of 2013 I started my own private law practice, focusing on Family Law and Traffic Law.  But it was not until this month (February, 2014) that I built a page for my practice on Facebook.  (www.facebook.com/MisnerLaw)  All of a sudden, people who have known me for years starting contacting me to congratulate me on my "new business". 

In Missouri, our Supreme Court Rules on Professional Conduct do not take lightly the social media presence of attorneys.  I read an article a few months ago with this poignant advice on the subject, no bragging and no begging.  Those are the two most common ways a lawyer will get into trouble with his or her social media site.

With that in mind, I will attempt to provide interesting and sometimes funny information on my Facebook site and here on my resurrected blog (plus lots of stuff about the magic show and fun times with my daughter!).  But you will not hear me talking about my courtroom prowess or how I would really like you to refer me to your friends, family, and coworkers for all their family law and traffic law matters!
